The assault involving Perry Tole and Mark Sanchez took place around 12 a.m. on October 4, 2025 in downtown Indianapolis.
According to court and news reports, Tole was driving a cooking oil recycling collection truck on his route when he parked at a loading dock in an alley between the Westin and Marriott hotels. It was during this early morning stop that he first encountered Sanchez, who was reportedly acting erratically and doing wind sprints before confronting him.
The confrontation escalated, and Tole later fought back with pepper spray and a knife in what he described as self-defense. Both men were hospitalized afterward.
Fox Sports officially confirmed on November 7, 2025 that Mark Sanchez was no longer with the network after he was fired following a stabbing incident in Indianapolis Los Angeles.
